Obituary for Ivory Dean Morrison (Porter)
Ivory Dean Porter-Morrison Age 74, of Tollette, AR was born September 2, 1942 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Willis-Knighton Hospital from natural causes.
Ivory is proceeded in death by her parents, Jasper & Lizzie E. Brown, her daughters, Latrice & Patrice Johnson, and siblings Evelyn Clay, Katherine Porter, Isaac Brown, & Henry Leo Brown.
Ivory graduated from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, California and continued her higher education in accounting. She then worked for the government for several years and later became a reading teacher.
Ivory began her courtship with her sweetheart, Mr. Ralph Morrison Sr., in 2015 and married him on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Her deepest love was for her children and grandchildren. She also took pride in her church, F.T. Jeans CME, where she served as an active member. She was known for her angelic voice, where she expressed her strong love for the Lord.
Her favorite past time was to play cards with Vanessa, Eddie Raymond, Kay Thornton, & Aunt Flo, and she also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was locally famous for her amazing pound cake. We all felt that she would have made millions off of that recipe.
Everyone who knew Ivory understood that when you asked her something, get ready for honesty. She was a straight shooter and unapologetically believed in expressing the truth. 2 of her coined statements were “Now I’m gone say this…” and “Now dick…” We all appreciated her for loving us right where we were and for being real with us even if it hurt a little. We knew that she only wanted what was best for us all.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Ralph Morrison, SR of Tollette, AR, her 2 children Darrell (Marsha) Brown of Texarkana, TX, Juan (Chanda) Johnson of Nashville, AR, 2 God-Children, Felicia Brown of Tollette, AR, & Curtis (Roslyn) Winfrey Jr. of Ashdown, AR, 15 Grand Children Tremaine Barker, Lyntisha Miller, LaQuita Frierson, Rashad Hopkins, Tiquana Miller, Candace Woodruff, Jalysa Richardson, Marquis Johnson, Jacolby Crow, Christopher Brown, Chasity, Jarvis, & Davion Holmes, Isaac Johnson, 12 Great Grand Children, and a host of nieces and nephews. Siblings: Geneva Gamble, Barbara Duruisseau, Alice Johnson, Elizabeth Brown.
Services will be Thursday, August 31, 2017 at F.T Jeans Church in Tollette at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Crofton Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the church.
