Mary M. Oliver, age 94 of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Nashville. She was born October 19, 1918 in Centerville, Arkansas to the late Ky Henry and Nettie Gooch Miller. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church in Mineral Springs. She was a loving wife and mother, living mainly for her special needs daughter, who lived with her at home until Mrs. Oliver had to go to the nursing home. She was always around for the “underdog”, taking food to shut-ins. She became a Christian at age 13, in the Assembly of God Church. Her senior year of high school, she stayed home and took care of her 13 year old brother with cancer, and returned when he died to finish her senior year. She always spoke of not letting any man affect you, but be concerned about the Lord’s will for your life.
Precededing her in death was her husband, James Edwin Oliver in 1999, which was the mail carrier for Mineral Springs for years. She also had taken over his route while he was in WWII. Becoming his substitute for nearly 20 years after he returned home.
She was the last of 4 sisters and 6 Brothers.
Survivors include; 3 daughters:
Linda and husband Bob Terwilliger of Nashville, Arkansas
Charlotte Diane Oliver of Mineral Springs, now of Evans, Ga.
Deborah Kay and husband Larry Welch of Evans, Ga.
9 grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren
Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 24, 2012 at 10:30 am. at Mineral Springs Cemetery with Bro. Bruce Short officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mineral Springs Cemetery.
