Virginia Cassandria Allen (Flemister)
Virginia Cassandria Flemister Allen was born April 6, 1924, in Center Point, Arkansas to the late Joseph Clell and Ercile Josephine Smith Flemister. She passed way, Friday, October 7, 2011 in Nashville.
She was married August 2, 1941 for 65 years to her late husband, Troy William Allen. She was preceded in death by an infant son, three sisters, Lyda Mae Gunderson, Margie Nell Gammon and Nina Jo Flemister, and one granddaughter, Jenny Cassandria Dreher.
Survivors include six children:
Wallace Troy and wife Shirley Allen, Barbara Nell Farnam, William Wayne Allen, James Sherrill and wife Angela Allen, Linda Jean Ward, and Joyce Marie Manasco and husband James.
17 grandchildren, Michele Ellis, Clay Allen, Ben Allen, Tracy Thomas, John Tosh, Dawn Dreher, Fredrick Dreher, Sr., Christian Dreher, Randall Allen, Rodney Allen, Seth Allen, Ross Allen, Brent Ward, Mignon Ward, Greg Manasco, and Anna Willis.
16 great grandchildren: Eli, Sarah, Ethan, Justin, Derrick, Casey, Autumn, Fredrick Jr., Troy, Cameron, Kirby, Leah, Samantha, Rachel, Kimberly, and James.
3 great-great grandchildren.
She was a Baptist and life long member of Bethany Baptist Church in Possom Hollow. She taught Sunday school and was active in Bible School. She was known for wonderful cooking and her beautiful flowers. She loved having all of her family home for holidays. She was a seamstress and made her children’s clothes for many years. She raised a huge garden and canned and froze the food for her family. She hand pieced and quilted many beautiful quilts that still warm her children and grandchildren. Over the years she has worked outside the home at the chicken plant, box factory, and cooked at a local restaurant. She was a hard working, beautiful lady that will be missed by a great number of people.
Graveside services will be Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 4 pm. at Fellowship Cemetery with Bro. Ellis Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Randall Allen, Rodney Allen, Greg Manasco, John Tosh, Ben Allen, Brent Ward, Fred Dreher, Chris Dreher, and Clay Allen.
